I was invited to join the Arran Art Trail and was asked to paint Alasdair Gray as he used to holiday on Arran with his family for the summer. Although I had heard of him, I didn't really know a huge amount about him. 

I watched various documentaries on him to find his character, which allowed me to incorporate that into my artwork. As I am a bold colour artist I decided to work with the colours from the ceiling at Oran Mor, Byres Rd, Glasgow as Alasdair painted the ceiling so it was the perfect palette for me .

I was very nervous taking this work on for Arran art trail but found my self eventually tuning into the quirkiness of Alasdair & really enjoying it .
